Singing bowls are known to be used for cooking but more often for meditation and mindfulness. The music and vibration the singing bowl offers is harmonic and healing.

Tingshas are cymbals used as ritual tools in Tibetan Buddhist prayers and ceremonies. Tied to the two ends of a cord, they produce a pure, high-pitched sound when struck. Uniquely, the tone that emanates from them is an extremely long one. The cymbals are used for meditation. Their sound is said to cleanse the spirit, clearing the mind of all thoughts during meditation and paving the way for a post-meditation state of great mental clarity.

Elizabeth and her business Roxas Bags are trendsetters. They are making purses, bags, backpacks, and more from up-cycled jeans.

This is a family business where her husband and son find and purchase the used jeans. They are always on the lookout for the best deals. Her daughter helps sell the bags. All while Elizabeth is designing and making these fashionable and durable bags.

Currently, she is able to make about 10 bags a day. Working with her mentors she is looking at investing in a new sewing machine.

This will allow her to sew more bags each day. With more inventory, she will increase her profits. She wants to be able to hire another employee and steadily grow her business.

Her daughter is also learning from our mentors and is finding new vendors that want to sell their bags.

They are all very grateful for the support from Mentors International as they are able to become more financially responsible and save for the future.

This painters apron was handmade by Alma from Nicaragua. She is grateful to her mentor Suzanna. She has learned to better organize her little shop so that her customers can find what they need. Suzana also helped teach her money management principles so that she could manage her income and shop expenses. Alma is growing in greater self-reliance and is very grateful for the support and mentoring from Mentors International.

Support a local Artisan. Luisa (pictured in the white shirt) completed the graphic design course from our Center for Education and Mentoring in Managua Nicaragua. With the help and support from her mentor Miriam she started a business designing and selling shirts.

Luisa told us that she is inspired by her beautiful country when she is designing her shirts.

This white and salmon-colored baseball T features the country outline of Nicaragua and the word design on the shirt says "Tierra de lagos y volcanes." Which means the land of the lakes and volcanos.
